Whoever invented chaffles deserves a medal. Cheese meets waffle. Perfecto! What an easy, satiating, low-carb accompaniment to just about any meal. They’re almost like a bread substitute. You can add fillings between two of them, pop them in a sandwich press and you’ve got yourself a delish toastie. I like to top one with cream cheese and avo for a quick snack. They’re yum smothered in garlic butter and served with steak or casserole. Or, serve them alongside soup to add a little substance if it’s needed.
I need to mention, this is not a KB original recipe. There are so many chaffle recipes floating around the internet, with plenty of variations. You know when you see a recipe over and over, and you don’t know if it’s any good, but you don’t want to waste time, money and effort trying it in case it doesn’t turn out like the super-sped-up, throw-it-in-a-pan Instagram reels flooding your algorithm? Well, that’s why I’m a handy helper. I do the trialling for you! And if you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know my recipes are 👌😉
I tried several different chaffle recipes, tweaked things until I was happy, then wrote up my version in the simplest way possible (perfect for a quick scan and cook, rather than having to find your place and read through long, wordy steps), so the whole process is as quick and easy as I could make it.
Note: It’s worth investing in a good waffle press, preferably one that is free from PFAS. I use a GreenPan press, with removable waffle, sandwich and grill plates.
