This was one of the first scrubs I ever made. I remember how in awe I felt when I realised I could make my own body scrub for less than $2 and achieve the same results as the store-bought stuff. I haven’t spent money on a commercial body or face scrub since and I haven’t looked back.
Raw honey is naturally antibacterial, full of antioxidants, moisturising and soothing, and clarifying, helping to open pores; coffee is anti-inflammatory and contains some antioxidants; sodium bicarbonate is anti-fungal, antiseptic, and lightly exfoliating; and coconut oil is wonderfully hydrating – what a combo!
So enjoy this cheap and easy DIY body scrub which also happens to make a gorgeous gift!

Making this today. Blessed to live in the South West so got some amazing Honey in the pantry. Thank you for your AMAZING recipes.
It is my absolute pleasure! Happy making 🙂
Hi what is the shelf life of this? Is there something that can be added to get a min 6 months?
So long as it isn’t contaminated with water (or from dirty fingers), it should last months. More info on preservatives and shelf life here > https://krissyballinger.com.au/blog/preservatives-shelf-life-and-safety-information/
Hi Krissy,
Love your recipes, thanks heaps :). Question – can you use 20g of coffee grounds (leftover from making a coffee in an espresso machine) or does the coffee need to be pre-extraction of the oils?
Thanks, Fleur
Hi Fleur, the problem with using coffee grounds is that they’ll grow mould pretty quickly. If you want to use up your fresh grounds, just combine a little with some olive oil and use it right away 🙂
