Boost your wellbeing with red light therapy

I recently bought myself a red light panel and I’M LOVING IT! Whilst it was quite an extravagant purchase, and I realise not everyone has the means to get a device for themselves, I can definitely see the value in owning a device. Let me tell you all about it.

Red light therapy is a non-invasive way to achieve some pretty awesome results that might otherwise be much more expensive, and require more intensive interventions.

Here is a list of some of the areas people see improvements in:

〉Improved skin texture, elasticity and tone

〉Enhanced cellular renewal and tissue repair: wound healing, reduced scarring and inflammation

〉Relief from chronic pain, joint pain and arthritis

〉Accelerated muscle recovery, weight loss support and increased energy

〉Reduced age spots, improved skin appearance and overall cellular function

Red light therapy, developed by NASA, is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular health. It has been extensively researched with thousands of studies supporting its efficacy.

A recent study (published in 2021) provides evidence that low-level red and near-infrared light therapy can be a highly effective, non-invasive solution for enhancing skin appearance and mitigating visible signs of aging. Specifically, it was found that red light therapy:

– Increased collagen and elastin production
– Boosted gene expressions related to skin elasticity and firmness
– Increased ATP production (energy for skin cells)
– Improved collagen and elastic fibre formation in skin tissues

How about infrared saunas?

You might already be incorporating infrared sauna sessions into your routine, and this is great! I have a few sessions a week myself. However, it’s worth noting that infrared saunas typically use far-infrared wavelengths, whereas red light therapy devices emit specific red and near-infrared wavelengths that are more readily absorbed by the skin, promoting vitality without heat generation.

How do I incorporate red light sessions into my day?

Well, according to Block Blue Light which is where I got my device from (not sponsored), you want to find that sweet spot of using it often enough to see results, but not so much that the benefits are lost. So, I try to get the device to my face every second day for 10 minutes. I usually listen to a podcast or I meditate during those 10 minutes (gotta love multi-tasking).

How long until one might see results?

I’ve been doing this routine for about 8 weeks and the pigmentation and general redness on my face has greatly reduced. I noticed an improvement after about 4 weeks (about 12 sessions). When my daughter uses the device, she notices her blemishes heal faster. I also incorporate this, upon request, into my healing room services (you can check them out here).

So, there you have it, red light therapy is a game-changer for anyone seeking to improve their skin health, reduce inflammation, and boost their energy levels – it’s definitely worth exploring!
